Many of you are well aware that Easter Sunday is this coming weekend. Trust me, I’m right there with you as we’ve been made well aware by the shelves at local stores that have been riddled with stuffed bunnies, reese’s peanut butter eggs, and of course Easter baskets. However, many of you are not aware that not only does Easter fall on this coming Sunday, but so does a lesser celebrated holiday, known as April Fools Day. That’s right, prank wars will be in full force as my little prince stirs on Easter morning, bright eyed and bushy tailed as he runs down the stairs to see what the Easter Bunny has brought him. He will be met with a basket filled with toothpaste, vitamins, a new toothbrush, comb, shampoo, socks, and undies (who doesn’t love new socks and undies?!) The eggs that the “Easter Bunny” will have brought will be filled with broccoli, cauliflower, and other assorted veggies instead of those sweet jelly beans.
But really, I’m not that evil, he will have an actual basket, filled with goodies, and yes eggs filled with jelly beans and starbursts, his favorites. However, don’t think I won’t let the prank go on for a minute or two as I revel in the glory. Between now and then, we have plans to do our annual egg dying in addition to baking easter themed cookies to take to his relatives. Which also means, an endless sink full of dishes and dye all over my table because lets face it, those throw away tablecloths never quite protect everything. But, I wouldn’t have it any other way, just to see that little smile light up the room as he pulls out a blue swirled egg!
In traditional fashion, we will be visiting our friends at Forevermore Studio Photography as they will be doing photos with the Easter Bunny, August just loves going to see them every year, and we have a ceramic frame that we put a new picture in every year. Also, we will be at the Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Family Fest at the Community Center on Beach Street on Saturday. There’s also alot going on at St. Lawrence Centre Mall, they have an Easter Bunny themed walk through, with proceeds to go to the Boys and Girls Club. Be sure to check out the Chamber facebook page or our community calendar for more information.
To boot, we are on the brink of Spring break. Unfortunately, I am unable to get away from the chamber at this time. However, I will be taking the little man out of town for a night to Plattsburgh to the Comfort Inn & Suites for some waterpark and arcade fun. I’ve never been and I’ve never brought him, yet, I’ve heard many great things, so I am hoping that it is totally worth it.
Until next week, I wish you all a safe and Happy Easter.
