This week at the Chamber of Commerce, we are gearing up for our Small Business Leadership Conference to take place tomorrow, Wednesday, March 14th and Thursday, March 15th at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino. Among other duties, my day has consisted
of adding stickers adorned with our logo on to over 100 measuring tapes for our giveaway bags to conference goers. At this time, I will once again strongly encourage you to come and check things out as its FREE of charge, breakfast and lunch is included and throughout the two days; there are several workshops and lectures being offered to help you become a better business owner or leader and to improve your current business practices.
Also, as many of you may already know however, St. Patrick’s Day is this weekend, which has led to many of our small business owners, to offer recognition of this holiday and to encourage shenanigans and tomfoolery this weekend. Just to name a few, the Massena Moose Lodge will be offering a corned beef and cabbage dinner starting at 1:00pm to benefit the Valued Veterans, Coach’s Corner will be offering drink specials and corned beef and cabbage with entertainment provided by the Outta the Blue Band beginning at 2:00pm.
I for one come from an Irish family, where corned beef and cabbage are a mainstay in our kitchens and by the age of 5 you know how to keep the perfect temperature on the beef. However, I learned from an early age and from my college days not to participate in the shenanigans that accompany the savory dishes. As a redhead as well, I had one too many times where someone always thought it funny to throw me over their shoulder and yell that they found a leprechaun. Thanks, but not thanks.
Therefore, I will be staying in so that I am nice and rested so that I can take on my son in a hockey game Sunday morning.
That’s right, no green beer for this girl!
