I’m not sure what happens to children as Christmas nears, but my little prince seems to bounce from one side of the spectrum to the other. We have a no new toy/movie rule in our house from November 1 until December 25th.
This is my last ditch effort to save money for the upcoming holidays.
Despite the fact that he (my 5 year old) is well aware that Santa is watching, he still forces the boundaries when it comes to the toy aisle at the store. Then when we visit my mother, his “Mamaw” for a weeknight dinner becomes a tantrum to spend the night. (Even after a pep talk about no tantrums).
In an effort to curb his behavior, we brought “Duckee” the Elf on the Shelf out early. With Duckee there to back me up, where could I go wrong? Well, let me tell you. We are on day 10, but this is the FIFTH that Duckee has left a handwritten note for my little angel, stating that “Once the attitude goes away, he will be back to play.”
In the midst of all my at home madness, the Massena Chamber has been busy rebranding to refocus on our members. We’ve created a new due structure to better accommodate our members and their needs. For the next couple of week’s I’ll be working on transferring members into our new packages while keeping up with the daily grind.
It’s safe to say that between the tantrums, striking elves, and trips to NBT Bank, I will be so ready to indulge this weekend. That’s right, this mama is going to be taking a trip to the Annual Tastes and Talents Show at the St. Lawrence Centre Mall this Saturday. But not before I take my little guy to the New York Power Authority’s Holiday Pajama Party on Friday night.
As we enter this spastic holiday time, I raise my glass to you. Here’s to keeping sane through the holidays, future last minute shopping trips, and new epic holiday pinterest fails. Most of all, LESS WHINE, MORE WINE! May the force be with you 😉
