The Dwight D. Eisenhower Visitor's Center is one of Massena's busiest tourist attractions as hundreds of tourists and shipwatchers visit the locks each year. The St. Lawrence River is enjoyed by boaters, fisherman, and ice fisherman all year long. Massena also is the home of the state of the art exhibit on energy & electricity at the NY Power Authority's Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center. It is one of New York's finest outdoor recreation facility. Massena also has numerous ice skating facilites indoor and outdoor for your skating pleasure.

"The Union"

A wonderful opportunity has come to the St. Lawrence Centre Mall in the form of an outreach center for area youth. An opportunity to give teenagers looking for an outlet after school other than walking around or "hanging out" at the mall. A place where they can come together, learn to grow in a safe environment. A place called "The Union". The location is storefront that used to be "Frame of Mind" located next to the food court. One of the first classes will be graffiti art, taught by a professor from RIT. Participants will be able to use their talents they learn on a wall in The Union.
The Union will house three areas: a potential room, a gaming room and a lounge. We are currently seeking volunteers!! Some possible classes that will be offered in the Fall include: stained glass art, guitar classes, makeup consulting, radio broadcasting, audio and sounds recordings. Games available will be Wii, PlayStation, XBox as well as, pool, foosball, air hockey and table tennis.
Hours will be Thursday, Friday & Saturdays from 3-9 pm. Membership costs will be $15/month or $150/annually. There will also be a pay as you go option available. Please call Jessica Hurlbut for more information @ 842-5052...more

Friends of The Nature Center at Robert Moses State Park

Since the Nature Center's devastating fire on 3/2/10, we launched the NC Recovery Fund and are working with NYPA & NYS Parks to re-build the Nature Center. The Nature Center has been relocated to the the Barnhart Beach Registration building within Robert Moses State Park. Museum displays have been set up there and many programs will be offered throughout the summer. Watch for news about our future and a possible new building!!!! nonprofit/recreation - Besides the Nature Center, there is also a beach, marina, picnic area, campgrounds and cabins with nature trails that meander through old growth forests, meadows, wetlands and river habitats. The park is uniquely located between the Robert Moses Power Dam and the St. Lawrence Seaways Eisenhower Lock.
The Nature Center provides visitors of all ages with an opportunity to learn more about the science and history of animal and plant life that make up the surrounding environment. The museum is filled with live exhibits, mounts, aquaria, a touch room, giftcase and classroom. The building also houses a large room with indoor picnic tables and a circular fireplace. Gardens, a garden pond and picnic tables grace the main entrance.
Animal care and building maintenance are supported through the support and generosity of the Friends of the Nature Center and minimal program fees. Fundraising and memberships have allowed the Nature Center to purchase greatly needed items, such as more than 20 pair of snowshoes and interpretive signs for the trails. Please join us and become a member of the Friends of the Nature Center.

Massena Nursery School, established in 1959, is a non-for-profit organization. Our parent-governed nursery school depends on the efforts of its families for its success through our volunteers such as the Board of Directors, committee members, and dedicated parents.
Parents are encouraged to volunteer their time, talents and resources in support of the school. A variety of opportunities exist on a school wide, classroom or individual basis. Examples include school wide fundraising efforts, community service events, and assisting the teacher in the classroom on their child's day to be leader by being parent helper.
Facilities and Materials
Massena Nursery School is conveniently located at 265 Andrews Street, Massena, NY in a cheerful and safe building. In each newly built classroom children can explore a wide variety of learning centers equipped with books, creative media, small and large manipulative educational toys, dress up and dramatic play items, blocks, puppets, and computers. In addition to the classroom environment, our students also participate in active music and movement classes that enhance their preschool experience.
