Join Shechem Press to celebrate the release of a new series of broadsides; Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from 5-7pm at The Parkview above The Blackbird Café in downtown Canton, NY. Celebrated poet Joshua Mehigan and poet Saara Raappana collaborated with Canton artist, Rebekah Wilkins-Pepiton to create the latest project from Shechem Press. “The Optimist,” “The Dream Job,” & “Advice for Icarus from Celebrated Funambulist The Great Farini” are each paired with original wood-cut prints from Canton artist, Rebekah Wilkins-Pepiton. The evening will include poetry reading and a brief introduction of the history of the broadside along with a cash bar. Broadside prints and other books will be made available for purchase.
The 2012 Artist Broadside Series were officially released on December 15, 2012. Each limited edition broadside is a 10” square giclée printed on off-white German mould-made paper. The block print serves as both illustration and framing for the “The Optimist” and “The Dream Job” by Mehigan and “Advice for Icarus from Celebrated Funambulist The Great Farini” by Raappana.
Shechem Press is a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to advancing the work of emerging poets, playwrights, artists, and thinkers. Each year we collaborate with emerging American voices to create beautiful books and book art. Earlier this year, Shechem Press released the book length poem, Notes on Paper, by Damon Falke.
